Olds and Chevy Engines OT
I remember a friend of mine's father bought the first new car he had ever
bought in his life, an Oldsmobile that turned out to have a Chevy Motor.
He was so proud when he brought his new Olds home.
Only to be asked by his son and me why his new Olds had a Chevy motor in it
instead of an Olds motor.
He hadn't a clue.
But was surely ready to kill the salesman who sold him the car.
Not just literally, he would have done it.
He did end up getting a significant amount of cash back, from the purchase
of the car.
This was a man, ready to mortgage his home if necessary and spend whatever
it took in lawyers fees to get his money back off that car. Which was
mis-represented to him.
By the way, they did "settle", car was a piece of junk, and a man who had
bought "used" GM, all his life. Would NEVER touch another GM product again.
He went to the dark side.
At the time, all 3 of his sons, and myself(I hung with these guys) were into
MOPARS.
Last couple were MOPARS, other than the used paid for Chevy truck he had.
Think GM lost more than one customer over the BS over the years?
I myself, had a bunch of used GM vehicles that weren't worth a dime.
Only GM vehicle I ever had any love at all for is the
Corvair..............go figure.
My grandfather had for his last car, a 78 Corvette, bought by him new.
I was the poor guy who had to keep it running after the warranty ran out.
Cured me of GM for life (other than Corvair)
I wouldn't cross the street for a new GM for $1
>From the way the dealers treated us, and others, to the quality of the
product. Your results may vary.
