Go ahead and wire it yourself. I mean, who's going to know?

Subject: <VV> HELP!! (garage lighting info) (Permitting)

Well, this one is 1475 sq. ft. inside, and even though drawn as a simple
pole barn, cost about $750 for the Architect and near $500 for the Permit.
I'm adding walls, doors & windows - after the fact.

It's kinda like driving on the Government owned roads these days. You
can't get on them w/o anxiety over whether or not you will commit some
infraction that will run your points up and cost you a ridiculous amount of
money.
AND, there are 10 times as many cops around here as there would have been
in the 1960's. I made a U-turn today that I have made legally - many
times, and a cop appeared out of nowhere and pulled me over. He said they just

changed that turn so as to not permit U-turns. I saw NO sign nor painting
on the pavement saying that I couldn't do it. He let me off, but once
again, I felt that Lawyers were dictating control over my competence and
intelligence and ability to operate my car.

Joe - Be careful with added lighting. Many code enforcement folks and the
building inspectors during the construction sign offs may be enforcing
limited lighting guidelines for energy usage restrictions. You can wire
for additional lighting, with extra gang plugs in the ceiling areas, then,
after final inspection sign off, install additional lighting yourself. Play
it safe, but plan ahead! I would add additional small-tube 4-foot
fixtures.
These have easy available bulbs and also good cold-start performance. -

My blueprint shows minimal fluorescent lighting, but I want bright
overheads in there. I know nothing of what's available. Cost is No. 1
consideration. I'll need good lighting over work benchs as well.

Thanks for any advice.
