So do I. But if I don't follow her directions, she simply says
"Recalculating" instead of "You stupid idiot, I TOLD you to turn left at that last
light!!!!!". That's how I know she's not a human female but just the voice
on my Garmin GPS.<GGGG> The GPS can be a life saver. I remember picking up
my friend at the Newark Airport in NJ and getting distracted by her steady
"yammering" so I missed one of the many signs to get back on the major
highway heading home. As a result we ended up somewhere in downtown Newark,
the crime capital of northern NJ. Not the best place to be lost!!! I
simply turned on the Garmin GPS, pushed the button that says destination "HOME"
and successfully followed the British lady's directions.
I definitely recommend having the GPS ready even when you're going
someplace you already know. Too many times you'll encounter traffic jams or
highway accidents and the police will detour you onto local roads that you
have no experience with. Then just turn on the GPS, put in the address of
your destination and follow the spoken directions. I got detoured off of
the NY State Thruway once and used the GPS to get me to my destination.
The big advantage to a portable GPS is that you can move it from car
to car and you can either take it with you or hide it under the seat when
you leave the car so it's not visible from the outside tempting someone to
break in and steal it.
