There may be other ways, but one sure way to tell if you have a factory A/C
car is the spare tire mount on the rear wall of the trunk. On LM factory
A/C cars the tire mount was spot welded to the rear wall. Those factory
spot welds could not be duplicated on dealer installs or shade tree
installs. AFAIK, all other A/C features can be duplicated including an
altered/changed body tag.

Hi guys, I have a question on factory A/C installations. Does the presence
of a Frigidaire compressor, built-in vents in the dash (rectangular in upper
center, balls on each end), and five-knob temperature control for heat and
A/C combined, always indicate a factory C64 air conditioning installation?
Or is it possible that the dealer unit (I don't have the option number, but
I know Chevy has a code for dealer-installed A/C) would have the same
features?
I'm trying to determine if my car's A/C is factory or dealer installed. It
has ALL of the features mentioned above, but with one issue. According to
what I know, tinted glass was fitted on all GM's factory A/C installations.
My '66 Monza Sport Sedan has an aftermarket tinted windshield, and what I'm
sure is original, but clear (non-tinted) "Safety LOF Plate" side and rear
glass.
Thanks...Bill Hershkowitz 66 Monza Sport Sedan 110 PG A/C
