Joe, It sounds like your car is a good candidate for an all new electric cooling fan kit. By doing this you'll be getting the experience of burnt wiring and electrical relays, an overheating engine, and probably just a bunch of crap. All in the name of fixing a "problem" that does not exist. Oh by the way, my Corvair driving experiences are pretty similar to yours.
