......but deeper. An engineer who ran the local (and reputable) AC shop (Wittstatt's for those of you in Maryland/DC) told me that as long as you keep the fins clean on the 66-67 condenser they do the job as least as well as the earlier, thinner, engine top units. And they are much easier to clean.

Since it's a 66, it has the smaller condenser in front of the firewall.

Guys, actually I am able to run the hose under the engine lid. There's enough
ive from the rubber seal and the charging hose is skinny enough that the lid
atches with the hose under it, and there doesn't appear to be any problems with
ither the hose getting kinked or the seal getting dented.
Since it's a 66, it has the smaller condenser in front of the firewall. I plan
o add the condenser fans, along with a relay to take the load off the main
iring to the compressor.
I don't have the idle solenoid, but the lever that is clamped on to the throttle
haft which is actuated by the idle-up solenoid is still there, and I have
nother 12v solenoid that I should be able to adapt to the lever.
Best regards...Bill

Timothy,
he real reason they show the hoses routed though the tail light is because
here is a mercury ground switch hooked to the compressor so it cannot run with
he deck lid up (which keeps the cooling air going through the condensor)...
ther than that, your post is good.
-)

onzo
