<VV> Reverse Rotation Cooling

I tend to agree with Lon. I've driven throughout the west and southwest for years without any overheating issues. I've always made sure that my oil was fresh if I was making long trips and the fan belt was properly tensioned. I've never really worried about the lower shrouds and the only time I removed the lower shrouds was when I tried a set of headers. Mind you, this was a non turbo engine. The turbo, under constant acceleration can stress an engine - think I-10 from LA to Palm Springs or I-70 west from Denver - long stretches of uphill driving at 70 to 80 mph. I can do this in a normally aspirated engine without any issues. Even in a stock turbo the engine temperatures will really climb. The only turbo setup that I have had any experience with that did not try to overheat was Steve Goodman's. I don't know how he does it.

The long and short of it is that I would go anywhere, any time in my 62 sedan and not be concerned. And remember, we have a significan advantage over the water pumpers: If we do overheat, we pull over, raise the engine cover and when the engine cools down, we go on our merry way. We don't need no stinkin' water.

YIKES Stricky! I never knew that was in there - Well...........I have to
ay I don't agree. I think that a properly maintained Corvair engine
ill handle "desert" conditions better than a water cooled.

there in the Corvair bible written by the bible's editor,
