Yes, but also see page 0-8 of the same Shop Manual that says EVERY 12,000  
MILES (OR MORE FREQUENTLY FOR SEVERE SERVICE) to remove the oil from the  
transmission sump and add two quarts of fresh fluid. Same as the then current  
Chev Service Bulletins.
