Thank you for calling attention to my Monza Convertible. I'm not going to
tell you what it cost (too much, too embarrassing), but Jeff had it for 8
years before it was completely done. Enough to make a grown man cry.
Hank, we did buy many of the parts from you, but they used my name and
credit card, so you probably weren't aware. He doesn't charge anything or
mark up for parts. He orders what he needs with the customer's credit card
and charges a flat hourly rate.
I do drive the car, and show it around Austin, Tx quite a bit.
Interestingly, my somewhat restored $14,000 Rampside has won as many
trophies in the shows as the Monza featured on the Jeff Lilly site and has
been featured in a half dozen music videos shot here in Austin.
It is not exactly true that Jeff Lilly does everything in house. He does
subcontract some of it out. The chrome, for example, was sent out. The
engine and powertrain were rebuilt by Bill Cotrofeld. It was very well
done.
And by the way, you all really helped us a lot with this restoration. Me,
Jeff, and several of his mechanics posted questions frequently over the
years it was in the shop. So many of you had a hand in this high quality
restoration.
If you all are ever in Austin, look me up, and I will be thrilled to take
you for a spin.
