Yes, it does seem like 2 hours from Gettysburg area to Williamsport when I
drive it...
Melted insulation is either too much current flow, or wire touching
something TOO hot.

me, and right now I have no way of getting the car to him. Where is the

Thanks to all for suggestions. What I see so far shows no broken/bare
wires, the starter is bolted on tight; all "looks" good there. It still
appears to me that the melted wire and the starter problem are unrelated.
Tell me again how to buy Bob Helt's book. Looks more and more like I'm
gonna need it!
