May I suggest something? 

If a run of all (or nearly all) of the needed issues 
can be assembled.........now everyone should 
take 2-3 deep breaths............and slice off the 
bound edge.  After that, simply run them through 
an automatic feeder mechanism on your scanner 
and.....success!

I understand that a single collection of issues 
would be robbed of their originality, but they in 
turn could be rebound in book form for future 
use.

Just a thought............
