Joel,
Ulli is in Munich, Germany... maybe one of the Porsche garages may know how to install a deep seat.
He might still have to order the seats in, but it would beat the shipping of a head back and forth across the pond.
Good luck Ulli!

It's bad news whatever it is. Either the head came off that valve or the seat
is gone. Either way the head has to come off. You can do it with the engine in
the car. You'll have to start by taking the intake, top shroud and exhaust off.
Then you can remove the head nuts, the pushrod guides, the pushrod tubes and
then the head. If you are lucky the piston and cylinder won't be torn up and
all you'll have to fix is the head. I would probably take both heads off and
send them to one of the Corvair shops to have all the seats replaced. I haven't
used one of them yet so I don't have any experience there. I used to have a
friend that did all my head work but he died so I'll have to figure out who I
will start sending my heads to.

Subject: <VV> serious problem with my turbo engine
Hi folks,
it started about 2 month ago. the engine was running worse and worser.
I went to a friend and we tested the compression. All cylinders show a reading
of 10 except no. 5 (the right side, last cylinder view from back) only gives us
a 2.1 reading.
I took off the head cover today and the inlet valve spring is more than lose, I
can turn it around by hand and can even push it (compress it) by hand.
Since it is the first time I am working on a Vair engine I am really not sure
what to do - please help - I am confused.
What can cause this problem and can it be a fallen/loose seat. The spring also
is much longer than all the others.
Any help is appreciated
Regards
Ulli the Ba-Vair-ian
