Really great to hear that John got out on his own, with no one's permission
and had a good day's drive. It would have been perfect if he had driven
the Phoenix. "He ain't dead yet by a long shot." as one of my old
acquaintances used to say. Same goes for Corsa, Corvairs and their owners.

> John is FINE.....after a day of adventure..... for us all. He was due
to be discharged from Noble Horizons this week. In preparation for that, he
had asked to have his Station Wagon Mercedes at The Home, (that was parked
in the first parking space, in view of the Main Entrance.) He was not
given the keys, but had a plan with me, to begin packing his clothes, gifts,
paperwork, etc., into the Mercedes with me, on Monday after lunch.
>
> On Sunday, as seen on the Security Camera tape, he walked himself out of
the Building, without word to staff, or anyone else....walked straight to
his car, without any difficulty, (after using a wheel chair for the past
3-4 weeks) and drove off at about 11:30 am. He went to Mc Donald's, and then
took himself out for a drive, on a beautiful day.....without ANYONE
knowing so. By Sunday afternoon, we were all out looking over the highways, over
bent guard rails, in pastures, all of the local restaurants, down at the
Track, even to The Geer Facility that Elizabeth lived in until she
passed....at 91.
>
> Troopers, and Local Police cruised 3 States looking for him.....those of
us who were out driving...and re-driving....crossed each other many times,
while on the hunt. He only had 1/4 tank of gas, and it was dark and
getting colder.....very scary. Crystal stayed the the Fitch Homestead, in case
he drove home......we checked the Garage and Barn several times, thinking
he might just get home, and be too tired to get out of the car and walk
inside. Everybody called everybody...........and finally........at 10:30 pm,
he drove himself to "The Red Lion Inn" in Mass......and booked himself a
room.
>
> The Desk Agent realized that it was quite unusual for a older gentleman
to check in, alone, without any belongings, and were diligent in calling
the Police.....that had a "Silver Alert" out on him. He was transported to
the local Medical Facility.....spent the night in care....and was driven
back to Nobel Horizons, by noon on Monday.

> I drove to the "Red Lion Inn" and retrieved his car, and brought it to
the garage in his house.
>
> The staff at Nobel Horizons has moved him to a new room, with a higher
level of supervision. I just left him....he wants his pants back!.....
and a phone..... as he has "many things to do, TODAY"! ....... and so.....
>
> He was still discharged on Thursday, return to his cherished Lime Rock
Homestead, and will return to his very missed life, compete with 2 "live
in" gentleman, and see that his needs are met, and he has a comfortable life,
at Home.
>
> He was driving the Mercedes....and he, the Mercedes, and The Phoenix are
all in fine shape, back at The Fitch Homestead......prepring for an
Eventful, Full, Rich Return to his Track and Events Life this spring.
>
> I am So, So sorry that his adventure, put all of his loved ones in a
serious state of alarm and deep, worrisome concern.
