JR- Stp does have ALOT of zddp in it- something like 1900 ppm- I read this on the "bob is the oil guy" website. Somebody on that website sent a sample of stp to a oilanalysis place to get that information. I'm not too thrilled about using Stp for zddp enhancement (although I have tried it in the past for that reason), as it does thickenthe oil quite a bit. Probably, the best way to use that stuff is to run a somewhat thinner than recommended oil viscosity, and then add enough stp to bring it back to a somewhat normal viscosity. To do that is alot of experimenting! I seem to recall running 1/4 of a bottle of Stp with 10w-40 (may have been 10w-30) without a noticeable viscosity increase. I did not "measure" the viscosity change, I did pay attention to the oil pressure (hot and cold, before and after adding stp), and also checked how thick the oil felt after adding some stp. Obviously not very scientific! I think the zddp issue for a stock corvair is overblown- they were designed to run on oil that had low levels of zddp, and those levels were the same or less than the modern synthetic oils.Kevin Nash
