 Well, the Army did this. The HMMWVs and the DUKWs,among others, had deflate-and-inflate-on-the-go capability. Not suggesting we build rotary unions into the spindle and bearing carriers of our cars... 

TPMS is a great idea. I just wish it transmitted actual pressure data, not just a go-no go signal. Now, if there was a display for that, can you imagine how many drivers would lose their minds as the pressure went up and down with temperature, load, etc.? I am sure tire pressure rises on the outboard tires at full cornering speeds...
