Yes, it is true, the 66-69 Sag is derived from the front engine flavor of that transmission. Even uses the same cluster gear, syncros, etc. The Crown conversion uses the front engine input shaft and gear (modified for the Corvair mainshaft, as its tip is larger) (insert joke here) and the throwout bearing snout bolts in place of the bearing retainer. That's how closely they're related.

Really ? I must have missed the first the 2,234,566 times!
LM, or EM too?
So, the 66/7/8/9 ("LLM") 4-speed is just a "66/7/8/9 4-speed" as opposed to
a "65 4-speed"("ELM")?
Is it still true that the LLM (66/7/8/9, previous known as the "Saginaw")
4-speed was adapted from other Chevy models ~ Chevelle, Chevy II, etc, or is
that yet another perpetuated urban legend ?
My whole world is falling down !

For the 2,234,567th time. All Corvair Manual Transmissions Are Saginaw!
This is posted in the futile hope that the Muncie vs. Saginaw thing can ever
be stomped out.
The devil made me do it. :-)
