<VV> Shipping US to Canada

So I need to send a small Corvair part to a guy in Canada.  Ordinarily, 
within the States, I'd just put it in a small box, hand it to the Post 
Office, and be done with it.  But, to Canada, I wonder whether there is 
more to it than just the necessary postage.  It is of relatively small 
value, but it is clearly an "object" as opposed to a letter.  Advise?
