Thanks to all who responded. Just had right head replaced and do not know if
my sensor was put in it.
How do I fix the temp gauge. I hear thermisters very expensive and break
off when trying to remove. What temp gauge sensor is recommended??
Thanks all!!!!!!

IMHO, EVERY Corvair NEEDS a working temp gauge!! Waiting until the high
temp light or buzzer goes off is too late!

You could have overheated the engine. It is very easy to do with a working
turbo. Just keep your foot in it for a few minutes, like climbing a
mountain in high gear! Usually you hear more pinging as another tell-tale.
A working temp gauge is very nice to have on a turbo.
