<VV> Brakes - Question

Bill,
You might want to try bleeding the brakes. A swollen brake hose can give a bunch of different symptoms... locking up a brake, as well as not actuating the wheel cylinder (thereby causing the other side to "grab")... if they bleed ok, you can just about rule that out.... it's good to flush the old brake fluid out every once in a while anyway.
Good luck!

Subject: Re: <VV> Brakes - Question
The whole idea of using hydraulically actuated brakes is to equalize the
pressure on the brake shoes. Adjustment has little to do with it. I think the
most common cause is grease / oil on the brake shoe. A surprisingly small
amount on a shoe or inside the drum during assembly will make the the brake grab
causing the 'off to the side' pull. Try brake clean but if there is quite a bit
it may come down to another set of shoes.

self-adjusters in my car are in there and complete, I just don't trust that
these things do a "perfect" adjustment. Maybe I'm wrong, but my question is:
Should there be some drag on the wheel when it is spun off the ground with the
stock Corvair brakes? Does anyone know of a tool that can be used to measure
drag so ensure that the resistance is equal on all four wheels?

the shoes/drums, and it all looks peachy. Still she veers sharply to the right
when I apply the brakes. I suspect one or more wheels has an incorrect brake
adjustment.
