And the 95 HP engine is supposed to get 89 octane. I don't believe any of our engines were designed to run on 87 octane fuel. We just get by with it (sometimes).

With a manual transmission: Upon stopping and before shut down, shift into 3rd
r 4th and let up on the clutch pedal a little, then shut off the key. Then
uench any dieseling by fully engaging the clutch. If it diesels on the go (or
ings, etc.), it might be timing or worse, and/or low-octane fuel.
With a 102, 110, 140, etc., pump in only high-octane gasoline. It should be 92
r better. In much of the Midwest, premium is 93, and my 110 runs fine on it.
ut in California, all we had was 91, which wasn't quite enough.

o prevent dieseling (running on) in gasoline powered engines, use
igher octane fuel, lower the idle speed at shutoff (like put your
utomatic in Drive, OR just adjust it down), and reduce the compression
atio -- normally, the first two are easiest.
