Id first check the spark plugs. You might have some that are remain hot after 
hut down.. actioning like a diesel glow plug. One sure cure is to either shut 
ff in gear (PG) or stall with the clutch till you find the problem.
 Try  tank full of 93 octane.

My stock 65 140 diesels after I turn off the key.  I'm only running the two 
rimaries with the secondaries blocked off to remove as many variables as 
ossible.  I've tried timing from 8-14 degrees with no change.   The car is 
dleing between 650 and 700 RPM. The distributor and vacuum advance are 
orrect.  The carbs have 51 jets.  I've been running regular gas with no 
inging.  Any suggests/ideas?  Thanks.
