<VV> Fan belt tension

Thanks all for your comments, I've recently replaced the alternator fan
( yes the correct one), engine fan pulley and idler fan and bearing as
well as added a harmonic balancer when this engine became a 64-110, so
all is new and looks to be running true. The fan belt vibrates between
the idler and engine fan pulley. Goes away when I tighten the belt up
to original shop manual specs. Mark Durham

May be it was Dynamo hum! From a rancid pancho even.
YLH
Belt hum, fan hum, or bearing hum? Listen at idle and increased rpm with a
rubber hose at each part to see what is the sound you hear.
If you cannot repeat the noise doing this, it may be drivetrain related.
Countershaft hum?

I assume you've taken the belt off briefly to verify it's really the belt.
My first thought would be try a different brand of belt. Second thought is
to run it a smidge looser or tighter to see if that changes things. Also
check over the pulleys themselves for flaws.
