<VV> Corvair PG vs. 4-speed tricks

When I lived in the Catskill Mountains, "Corvair Country" as it were, I
worked 25 miles downhill. Getting back up the hill was a little harder, but
that 110 4-speed made it fun (a PG would not have been nearly as much fun to
drive!
A local doctor used to tease me with his 450SL, but he was never able to
beat me up or down, so I added a little challenge that started that trend.
Racing downhill, I raced him to flatland, with engine off and my 4-speed in
neutral, with no shifting whatever. No PG could top that!
When my Lakewood's 4-speed lost reverse (linkage problem, as I recall?), I
always looked for parking places that were slightly uphill so I could roll
back out, and didn't miss reverse for a long while!
At 4 AM on the start of a 700 mile trip (from Chapel Hill, NC to NY), my
Audio's clutch cable snapped, but I didn't let that stop me. Clutches are
for wusses, I found out, but I got to NY without incident (toll booths posed
a bit of a problem, but "snatch and grab" correct change solved that!)
I finally fixed it after another 10,000 miles (Audi wanted $400+ to replace
it, but I tried it myself and it took a half hour.)

So, in a downhill parade - put it in neutral. Just participate in downhill
parades?
