I suggest that the New Yorker cover came about because Bruce McCall, who 
is a brilliant Canadian emigre, contributed regularly to Car and Driver 
when Barry Brown wrote for the publication. Brown, of course, created 
the brilliant article on taking his new Greenbrier to John Fitch to 
create a most special sports van :).
