I have done it with the rear up on regular 16 inch jack stands. Harbor
freight had a deal on them last week , so i bought another pair to add to my 3
other sets.
i did not even remove the front tire. you can see the hoses ok and the fill
pipe bracket is ok to get to.
my problem is my sore back putting it back up in there.
one thing that helps a lot , drain it before jacking it up! get every drop
out siphoning thru the feed pipe at the pump.
Cars need the front jacked up. I remove the sender with a screwdriver
and small hammer to remove the sender to drain cars.
Another good way to drain ANY gas tank is using a pick type body hammer.
put the pick to the lowest point of the tank , one GOOD hit on the face of it
with another hammer puts a good drain hole in instantly keeping your hand
and sleeve out of the way. After draining it , sand around that hole ,
solder a cleaned penny over the hole with a heavy iron. Paint at least that
spot (or whole tank) with something like P O R 15 or at least a Rustoleum
type product. let it dry a long time before installing it.
