I too have done the grease fitting, thinking it was a great idea; ALOT
quicker than disassembly. But how much grease do you inject? Does it REALLY
migrate to the bearings? After a few grease soaked brakes, I did 'em the
hard way. No problems, but nobody wants to pay my labor rates to have it
done. I take that back, one person in Florida did.

I am in the category of have done many grease fittings in late rear 
hubs. So far no problem, but many have had problems with over greasing.

Now, whether I have extended the life of the bearings, or just wasted my 
time will never be known, as most live a long time even without greasing 
them!
