Try unplugging the engine compartment harness (jumper the 12V line into the main
harness) and see if it still happens. If it still happens reconnect and
disconnect the trunk harness and try again. If it still happens unplug your
dimmer. If it still happens your problem is in the main harness or the switch.

Hi Carl,

Just curious if you found the source of your short circuit problem ?

Hope it works out without replacing harnesses !

Charlie

Subject: <VV> 66 Monza Sedan electrical short

This 66 was recently restored. It was completed about 15 months ago. Last
month, I pulled the light switch on and the tail lights shorted out about 15
seconds later. It was obvious that something was sapping the power. If I
turned the light switch off, everything went back to normal. After
replacing the fuse, all works well until the light switch is pulled. Then
the short again. I am hoping someone has some ideas on this. The blinkers
and brake lights work fine. I believe it to be the switch. Others have
said it is more than likely the dimmer switch or a loose ground. All ideas
will be appreciated.

Thanks

Carl
