Smitty Says.  This has gone on long enough.  If the speedo needle is moving 
the cable is good.   OR   If the odo wheels are turning the cable is good. 
Movement of either one indicates a good cable.
Now if you get into chatter or thrashing of the needle you may have a cable 
problem.  Internally the cable drives a shaft which has a gear on it to 
drive the odo.  The same shaft conrtinues on to drive the speedo head.
