So no one else answered, I'll put my $0.02 in. That oil most likely doesn't
have enough ZDDP.

Subject: <VV> Fully broken in and ready for synthetic oil
I'm getting ready to change the oil for the second time since the
rebuild. During the break-in period, I've been using Brad Penn oil -
the green oil. I'm now going to switch to a fully synthetic oil,
Castrol Syntec 10w-30 (a full synthetic) and use a Mobil-1 filter. I
believe that this will alleviate any concerns over having sufficient
ZDDP for our flat tappets. I just wanted to run it by the crew for a
final check before changing the oil. I plan on dropping the oil pan
and checking for any "problems", replace the pan gasket and the seals
on the 45 degree adaptor that has been leaking since the engine was
installed. I also plan on installing six "super magnets" sandwiched
on the fins of my Clarks deep fill pan using the natural magnetic pull
to keep them in place. I placed them on the back of my oil filter for
the last 5000 miles in order to trap magnetic debris in the bottom of
the filter. I've been running 260-75 on the temperature gauge located
on the block just above the lip of the oil pan (a water temp gauge -
actually) and 180-195 on the gauge (actual oil gauge) attached to the
sender in the Clarks deep pan slot; this is with the lower shrouds on
in ambient temps from 30-105. Feel free as always to chime in.
