It must be cabin fever or the family, friends and crew insisting that
I write while I can just barely remember the events with their help;
but the new book is going to the printer Monday morning.
A Little Vintage Racing History
Is about a family's adventures into SCCA sports car racing when
vintage didn't really exist. People who are into vintage cars now are
too young to know how it really was. This is how it really was for
amateur racers of limited means in the Golden Era of Racing in the 60's
and 70's. It was a rare opportunity where we could race with the
factory supported teams. After ten years of road racing there was still
very much activity in other related areas of the sport up to the
present day---all included.
Of course this is somewhat Corvair biased as that was my affordable
weapon of choice; however this story could have been told by the
competitiors in any brand of car. You may recognize your own similar
adventures
in this book. My wife and children figured prominately in this story.
There are lots of old colored photos.
Available soon for $25, $30 with shipping. There should be copies
available at most events;starting with the Corvair Performance Workshop
in March and continuing at most Corvair and SCCA events.
