Jeremy,
Welcome to VV!
Looks like you are located about midway between Minneapolis and Madison and
that you have already made contact with at least one of the Madison folk. I
would strongly suggest that you pick one of those local clubs to associate
yourself with. If you are able to attend meetings and other "adventures"
which most clubs do, you will learn a lot from the members and just might
find a For Sale car at a reasonable price tag. You don't have to own a
Corvair to participate in the fun!

Subject: <VV> An introduction from Wisconsin
Hello, my name is Jeremy and I live near the big city of Wausau, WI.
I joined CORSA in February so I figured since I was a silent lurker on this
list I should step up to the plate and introduce myself. I am also active on
the Corvair Forum and Corvair center (user name Cad-Kid)
Corvairs have been in my thoughts since I have learned to drive (1989). I
have had several air cooled VW's (along with other cars) and test drove a
few Corvairs along the way. But late last year something interesting
happened - I got bitten by the Corvair bug - with all the great info (from
tech tips on Clarks page, owner sites, and forums such as this one) I was
impressed at the support for this great car.
When I got married (almost 10 years now) I sold my collector car (1964
Caddillac Fleetwood). It was time to sell it as it needed engine work and if
you are going to shell out that kind of dough the body better look good and
so on (money pit). Now I have two young kids and a great small car (Saturn
Astra) that is quieter then my Cad was (not as cushy though).
So now it's time to dream about getting a corvair - I won't be able to get
one for a few years (gotta pay off my current ride) but I can still dream! I
consider myself a LM guy, but I like them all!. Since I started my Corvair
research I have a better understanding of what options were available. Plus
I am surprised at the % of PG cars produced.
One of my goals is to be able to help out fellow corvair enthusiasts with
repairs. I feel that I have good mechanical and electrical skills. So if
anyone is in the Wausau area and needs a hand give me a shout.
Best wishes.
Thanks

P.S. Last month while I was in Madison checking out the Mad City Rail Road
Show I got a chance to meet up with Sam Russll (AKA Spyderman from the
Corvair Center forum). We had a great time talking about Vairs and our past
rides. Sam's a great guy. I hope to make it to Madison again soon. Here's to
meeting up with the rest of the great folks out there.
