<VV> noisy lifters and car valuation

Thanks all,

I let the car idle for about a half hour and the noise was gone, it has
not returned since.

Now I know how varied opinions can be, how different prices are in different
areas etc. but I'd appreciate it if you'd all give this your best shot.

This car is located here in NorthEast Pennsylvania, in the good ole' rust
belt.

I may be going to look at a 66 Monza PG Convertible today or tomorrow. The
car is listed for sale locally for $700. Owner says that the car has rusty
floors but is solid, that the body is pretty straight with just a little
surface rust in a few spots (leading edge of the hood was mentioned). The
top is shot, keys are lost, and the car has not been started in 20 years but
has been stored indoors for all that time. I'm assuming the upholstery is
gone too. The guy says that the car is/was green on green.

I haven't seen even a photo yet and don't have any more info, any thoughts
on what would be a fair price if the car is more or less as described (solid
rockers and no rust holes in the body?). I really don't have any clue of
the prices on convertibles.

Thanks for your time and educated guesses!
