I'm in the market for a Corsa..had a 180 turbo in my youth and loved it
after a 61 Monza..not a mechanic, just like the uniqueness and styling of
the sec gen cars. Read good and not so good things about turbos and
140's..turbos need a lot of "owner involvement" to keep them at peak
performance...140's have may have valve seat issues...secondary carbs can
become "gummed up" in the car isn't "punched" regularly..just want to drive
the car on the street and be able to get away from a stoplight decently (
maybe occasionally surprise an unsuspecting same age Porsche !!) and enjoy
having a unique car. Would love to hear from those with
experience!!!!....ED

If you don't want a car with a lot of owner involvement and you want a car
without valve seat issues, and you want a car that will perform well
without regularly being driven hard, - Go buy a Camaro! (95-96 Z28s are cheap
performance)
But - when you buy a Corvair, you get a hobby along with it, as well as a
great support group. If you still want the Corvair, maybe you can find a
Corsa where someone pulled the 140 or 180 and dropped in a 110 or a 95. (It
happens.) If it has the original 4-speed, it will still be a fun car to
drive, and you won't have to worry about gumming up secondaries or valve seat
issues - for the most part.
Seth Emerson - feeling kind of curmudgeonly today.
