When I was under the car at your place the backup light switch wires were  
right against the clutch mechanism and I moved them away a bit.  Any chance  
they have been rubbing?  I meant to recommend a nylon tie to keep them well 
 back but forgot to mention it.
 
By the way, I'm glad you didn't sell the car last year and that you are  
back to repairing clutch forks etc.
