All this talk about the last Corvair convertible is good.
It is sheds light on our hobby and the very historical
#5997 Monza convert. As everyone should know by now, CORSA
and the Corvair Preservation Foundation (CPF) owns the
second to last Corvair - and the last one known to
actually exist; Monza coupe #5999. The car was recently
professionally appraised at $22,500. I have accepted a
temporary position with the CPF to arrange for the moving,
storage and new display venue for #5999. This is somewhat
humorous to me at least that the Caveman is responsible
for a last known 1969 Corvair.
My plan is to offer the car to General Motors for display
at either the GM Heritage Collection in Warren, Michigan
or at the first floor Ren Cen car display at GM's World HQ
in Detroit. I will offer the "Last Corvair" to them to
display. I'm hoping to catch someone's attention with the
"Last Corvair" moniker. Maybe they will correct me and
offer #6000 as proof that we don't have the last one -
they do. Think that'll work?
