I believe the correct term for is "suction shield", and "windshield".
Inasmuch as it's in the rear, it really doesn't provide a shield from
the wind.  It does, however, provide a shield from the suction created
by the wind flowing over the car.  Haven't you ever noticed the suction
created just behind the cab of a pickup truck?

Too bad no one has yet invented a shield for VV posts that suck. :)
