<VV> vibration/shimmy - solved!

I would like to give a hearty thank you to all who offered suggestions on my mysterious vibration/shimmy.  I took your advice and took the car to my friendly neighborhood tire store where the tires on it where purchased and recently balanced. 

I then explained everything to them and they did a "road force" tire balance on each back tire.  One checked out ok, but the other one.... 

As they spun it you could actually see the lump (or hump?) move up and down as it spun.  The bouncing matched the pattern of shimmy on the car. 

So, it looks like i'm going to need a new tire to solve this.  However, one good thing about this.  At least I found the dying strut rod bushings BEFORE installing new tires.  That way, any damage done to the tires will be to the old dying ones instead of the nice new ones!
