Since the air is lighter than fuel, you will probably never get the air out
above the outlet of the filter.  It will just sit at the top.

I've run these on a few cars - generally they don't really fill up until the
car has been driven quite a while.  On electric pumps, I like to run them
back by the transmission, it's quieter.
