Gotta disagree, Richard.  I like the 3.89 in an FC.  Yes, it revs 
higher on the highway.  But if you are actually carrying loads or 
pulling a trailer, it's the bees knees.

With a 145-cid engine, I almost think the 3.89 is mandatory.  That's 
what Chevy concluded, too, making the 3.89 standard equipment not 
long into the 1961 model year.

With the introduction of the 164-cid engine in 1965, standard 
equipment became the 3.55 and it is a perfectly fine combination.

3.27?  Too tall for an FC in my view.
