I drove my 65 2 door coupe to Tulsa and back for the Great Plains Roundup.
It was a great show, again, and well attended with Corvairs from OK, KS,
MO, AR, CO, and TX. Driving the car there wasn't enough, so we went on a
couple cruises, including a tour of the Glen Pray's Cord factory (very cool
BTW).
Of course driving my Corvair is a daily event as it is my primary
transportation to work every day and my "backup" vehicle is my '66 Corsa.
Yup, I'm infected,
Ned

I just completed my trip from Michigan to Vermont for our annual VICE
chapter tours and meeting. I drove my 1965 500 4-door with 140HP engine
and
Powerglide trans. I put 1,745 miles on the car and got 23.7 MPG at freeway
speeds and thru the twisty hilly roads of Vermont for 4 days. I delivered
four tires to Pete Koehler in PA and four wheels to Tim Colson in NY.
There must be something to the story that synthetic oil causes leaks as I
put Mobil 1 10W30 oil in before I left and the engine now has some leaks
where it never leaked before. Of course before this trip I just used
whatever oil was cheapest at the FLAPS. On the other hand I never got that
good a gas mileage before, so maybe the synthetic oil is slipperier than
cheap dino oil. I did use the best premium gas at every fill up.
One of our tours was taking the ferry across Lake Champlain to Fort
Ticonderoga. A great time was had by all.
