Has anyone ever actually seen, vs remembered seeing, a Corvair timing
gear invovling plastic? I know never have.

Wouldn't happen to have an actual picture, vs photochop, would ya?

The Iron Duke engine had a phenolic cam gear from the factory, and they
failed, but all I've ever seen in a standard Corvair, factory or
otherwise, is aluminum, which also can fail on occasion, both a tooth
failure and / or a failure to stay on the cam.
