<VV> 87 / 89 / 91+ octane????

How do you know???


you don't ...at first!  


 Example:


Early this year I purchased a 180k mile 67 110 pg    advertised car.


Upon receiving the car I immediately   filled the tank with 92 octane


When that tank was 1/2 gone I refilled with 89


Still no pinging or Dieseling at shutdown.


When that tank was 1/2 gone I refilled with 87


 It started dieseling at shutdown


A few 1000 miles later I inspected the plugs...all is clean


A few weeks ago I drove to town  that is all uphill from where I live... and was 97 F  while I was there...


No pinging...no dieseling




 What... Me worry!! LOL!!
