I remember that you had to cut a portion of the hub off with a hacksaw to
clear the crank. Put one in a '67 conv. and it was smooth.

I don't know. I ran one in my 64 Spyder for years with no issues. It was
from Clark's, so the machining was already done (the outer dia of the
spring pack needs to be cut slightly IIRC.) I also had to buy a slightly
thinner ring for the flywheel to crankshaft bolts to pass through.

Maybe the original style was cheaper than the machined Vega w/ ring that
people didn't buy it.

A couple decades ago, the vega clutch disc was touted as being a better
replacement than the stock one. I don't hear it being mentioned anymore.
