A leak in the vacuum modulator sucking transmission oil into the engine
is a good possibility.

Ok, James,

Smoke came out of where in back (if you know specifically..)?  It 
quit/stopped, right? Low on trans fluid so you refilled it?

Let us know if that is what you are saying, please.


Are there oil spots or trans spots/smears on back of car? Inside engine 
compartment?
