Compressed air energy storage, for auto use, has about the same energy density storage as lead acid batteries,
according to wikipedia. The major potential advantages of using compressed air vs battery storage is that with
compressed air, the storage tanks have no built in lifetime- assuming they are used as intended, they will not
"wear out" as opposed to batteries, which definitley do have a finite lifetime. Also, the "charge" times for a compressed
air tank can be dramatically short as compared to any type of battery currently in use. It is an interesting idea,
but I think it is far more practical to use compressed air storage for power plants, as the efficiency for this
type of storage can approach 100% for large installations.
