I agree 1000%! I'm an old-school EE who worked primarily in the analog world. Your observation is totally correct which is why my dash instruments are analog. In the case of the CHT, I wanted an over-range indication and preferred (but didn't require) compensated. Digital was all I could find with over-range. I'm guessing that with the gauges mounted in the console, at the edges of my (aging) periphery, that the digital will be move visible than analog.

Subject: Digital vs. Analog Re: <VV> Temperature/Pressure/Fan
Digital gauges are great for the passenger to use for taking data for engine calibration. However, for gauges that need to be viewed by the driver WHILE HE IS DRIVING, I prefer analog gauges. It's much easier, quicker and much less distracting to quickly note that your cyl. head temp has gone to halfway between 400 and 500 deg. than to have to read 3 numbers to determine the actual temp. Do you really need to know that the temp is now precisely 453 degrees???

For over-temperature, I will use console-mounted dual CHT gauges with
settable over-limit indication. The gauges are digital and flash when
the set limit is exceeded.
