Yup, I built just what you describe and it's on my '66 Turbovert. I went
one better, I use the oil and gen idiot lights to sound a loud piezo horn.
So that you are not entertained by the horn before the engine starts, I used
a oil pressure switch that has the second circuit that connects in the
presence of oil pressure. As soon as the oil pressure comes up, it sets a
relay that stays energized until you turn the key off. This arms the system
and if you loose either oil pressure or throw the belt and the gen light
comes on, you get a screech. Yes....I do have a schematic if you send me a
normal e-mail.
Jim

Hi Tim, How about a "fan belt off" buzzer or siren for that matter. Has
anyone come up with a system to inform the driver if their fan belt should
come off while driving? All I have heard people say is "You feel the engine
has more power" or "It will ping itself to death and then you'll know" or
"Just look at the dummy lite (you idiot)". I for one would be interested in
a loud noisemaker if my belt came off. Has anyone else had the same thoughts
on these air cooled wonders?
