If you just want to take them apart, a tall 3/4" hex 1/2" drive socket and
a hammer will remove all of the valve springs/retainers/keepers. Set the
head, chamber down, on the bench, with a rag in the combustion chamber. Put
the socket hex-down on the retainer and hit it hard with the hammer. A
couple of hits and the keepers pop-out and the retainer and the spring are
loose. This has never failed me - Never.

PS - This does not work for assembly! <grin>

Its easy to take apart a head if you have the right tools. There is a valve
spring compressor that Clark's sells, that would work, but check with your
local club members and see if someone has one. It will compress the valve
spring so you have access to the two valve keepers at the end of the valve
shaft, remove the keepers (use a magnet), and the spring can be unloaded
slowly and the valve should slide right out of the valve guide. The intakes
may have valve stem seals on them.
