Tim, I agree, plus because of the dedication of the Clarks we have the
option to get interior parts, and extra stuff that mostly is not sold
anywhere else. Clarks does a excellant job supporting the Corvair
community.
Most of my orders go to them. Their customer service has been
impeccible. Parts ship normally in a day, and I usually get their
parts sooner than parts ordered from California on the same day. I
live in Idaho. One time they didn't have what the computer said they
did and I immediately got a email asking what I wanted to do.
However, I do live on the west coast and try to purchase real heavy
parts from a west coast vendor, to minimize shipping for the parts and
any cores to ship back from the work.
And if anyone has actually priced parts for performance and antique
cars lately, Corvair parts are cheap. For example, my engine got a set
of STD Egge pistons some time in the past. I'm replacing them because
it is cheaper in the long run to get bored cyls and oversize pistons
and rings than to buy a set of Std cylinders.
They are in like new condition, miked std, so if anyone is interested
in a set of std pistons for a good buy, write me off line.
Moral of the story, the Egge SuperCast pistons, which they make off of
GM molds, cost $220. I bought my supercast for $154.
