6I actually got to 'drive' the predecessor to the Corvair, a 1963 Chevy II
300 (Nova was a 400 in those days) 2 door sedan (30411Wxxxxxx) 194 3 on the
tree, automatic choke. My job as eldest son was to go out in the winter and
make sure that I had the 'tree' in neutral, the hand brake on, and start her
up and warm her up until she would run on her own. The automatic choke did
not keep her running when the weather was cold. Didn't get to actually move
the car. Had the same duties on the Corvair the next winter, we only had a
carport both years. The following winter, we had an actual garage, so
starting/running the Corvair was a problem only when we had to park her out
on the street occasionally.
